William was the adopted son of Lau Dan (aka Wo Yuen) a Chinese merchant on lot 401 Cavenagh Street and his wife Lin How Loo. William Wei Kwong Low was born in Loong Do, Zhongshan, China on 4 April 1918 and arrived in Darwin on the Montoro on 14 May 1923. He married Gum Hee Lee in Darwin on 7 April 1940.
William Wei Kwong Low died in Sydney, N.S.W. on 29 August 1992 and he is buried at Rookwood Chinese Cemetery. William Wei Kwong served in the Australian army [Service No D278]. His mother Lin How and wife Gum Hee sailed per Zealandia to Bowen, Queensland before moving to New South Wales.
