History
The Unit was raised in Sydney in April 1940. The 2 Anti aircraft Battery arrived in the Northern Territory on the Zealandia in June 1940. The Unit installed two 3.7 inch guns on the oval and another two at Parap in November 1940. They returned to Sydney on the Zealandia leaving Darwin on 30 December 1940. They embarked on the Queen Mary and sailed for Egypt on 29 June 1941. They were equipped with bofors guns and converted to 2/1 Light Anti aircraft Regiment and served in Syria and Egypt.,
