History

The Brigade was formed in 1940 as part of the 8 Division. Almost all of the Units assigned to the Brigade were lost in Rabaul, Ambon and Timor. The AIF Battalions were replaced with the 7, 8 and 27 Militia Battalions. After leaving Darwin, the Brigade took part in the Bougainville Campaign. Ivan Dougherty and Arnold Potts commanded the Division.,
