History

The Group arrived in Manila on 20 November 1941. The Group's commander and 20 pilots flew to Australia to pick up their aircraft but did not return to the Philippines. The aircraft were on the Pensacola convoy and were assembled with some difficulty at Amberley in Queensland. Instead they took part in the Java Campaign from February to May 1942. They were disbanded in May 1942 and the remaining aircraft allotted to the 9 Bombardment Group.,
