History

Requisitioned on 8 December 1941, she was previously a Northern Territory patrol vessel for the Timor Ferry Service. Kuru was in Darwin Harbour on 19 February 1942. Kuru played an important role in the Battle of Timor and completed numerous supply trips to the island. Following the evacuation of Timor, Kuru operated in Northern Australian waters and rescued the survivors of HMAS Patricia Cam in January 1943. In an accident in October 1943 Kuru was damaged beyond repair.,
