History

Commandeered from the Royal Netherlands Navy after the fall of Ambon. On one trip she used coconut oil for fuel as nothing else was available. Griffioen was used as a troop transport for commando landings and as well as a stores carrier when not working in the harbour. She was converted to a hospital ship in October 1943 by the United States.,
