Description
Stream flow measurements were made along the Flora River in July and October 2015 between the confluence of Flora River and Matherson Creek down to Djurrung Falls to qualify surface water/groundwater interactions where the river transects the Tindal, Jinduckin and Oolloo formations.
Significant streamflow increases were recorded as the river transects the Tindal Limestone aquifer, followed by a demonstrated reduction in flow as the river passes through the upstream part of the Jinduckin formation. Slight losses and gains to streamflow are also indicated for the downstream section of the Jinduckin Formation and through the Oolloo Dolostone. A 20% reduction in flow was confirmed at the downstream gauging station G8140205 from the upstream gauging station G8140044 demonstrating the continuity principle does not apply to streamflow within the lower reaches of the Flora River.,
