Abstract

This Environmental Flows Initiative project examines the relationship between flow and algae in the Daly River. It is one of five projects funded by Environment Australia for the N.T. The project comprises of three studies, each one evaluating a different group of algae (non-vascular plants) found in the river. These are the (1) phytoplankton (microscopic algae suspended in the river water), benthic diatoms (microscopic algae belonging to the class Bacillariophyceae that grow on river substrates), and benthic macroalgae (algae visible to the naked eye growing on the river bed).,
