Abstract

The following report documents part 1 of land resource mapping, erosion and soil erodibility studies conducted by Land Conservation in the Magela Creek Catchment during the dry season of 1978. In addition it collates and updates previous land unit mapping and outlines future work requirements for Land Conservation in the area. Detailed soils mapping of the Ranger, Jabiru township and Jabiluka project areas reveal that shallow yellow or reddish brown uniform sands with gravels throughout are the dominant soil types within the upland portions of the former two areas. By contrast deep yellowish brown uniform sands that are gravel free, dominate the latter area,
