Abstract

This report extends the 2006 assessment (SEA 2006) of storm tide risks generated by tropical cyclones within the Darwin region by incorporating high resolution topographic data and including the potential impacts of future climate change on sea level and tropical cyclone characteristics. The study area extends from Cape Blaze in the west to Gunn Point in the east on the mainland and also the southern facing coast of Bathurst and Melville Island, from Cape Gambier to Mitchell Point. The assessed storm tide risk includes the storm surge, the interaction with the normal astronomical tide and the possible effects of breaking wave setup.,
