The initial broad aims of this three year project were to:
(a) identify and document priority, non-fish, marine threatened species in the NT;
(b) undertake targeted baseline surveys or monitoring (where relevant);
(c) conduct formal conservation and threat assessments; and
(d) review and assess potential for listing under the NT legislation. This project has completed most of the Year 2 milestones. All sub-projects based on species (Inshore Cetaceans, Giant Clams, Hawksbill Turtles, Sea Snakes , Leatherback Turtles, Humpback Whales, Shorebirds and Seabirds) have been engaged and are on track. The Sea Snake sub-project has now engaged a PhD student (Emma Francis) and commenced its first year of work, during the second year of project funding.,
