A Junkers JU-86 aircraft belonging to the German airline Lufthansa during a visit to Darwin in late 1937-early 1938. The aircraft is believed to be registered D-AGRV and is finished in a medium grey scheme with the period Nazi swastika tail surfaces, a syumbol of Hitler's re-arming at the time. Ostensibly the Germans uitlied the aircraft as airliners however all types were capable of rapid conversion to bombers and/or transport types. The Junkers JU-86 was powered by two Junkers Jumo 205 diesel engines each of 600hp rating and giving a cruising speed of 224mph. Length was 57'5" and wing span 73'10" whilst the aircraft's all up weight was 17,650lbs.,
