Description
ALP volunteers tent, assisting for Luke Gosling (ALP candidate for the electorate of Solomon) (please let the NTL know if you have any additional information about this photograph),
Notes
The photographs show the queues of people waiting to vote and the volunteers distributing How to Vote cards, indicating party preferences, for Country Liberal Party (CLP), Greens, Australian Labor Party (ALP) and the Shooters, Fishers and Farmers Party. Although this was a federal election to either re-elect Natasha Griggs (CLP) or elect Luke Gosling (ALP) to the federal seat of Solomon, many felt that it was a rehearsal for the Territory Legislative Assembly elections scheduled for the following month on 27 August 2016. The former Labor Minister and member for Arnhem, the Hon John Ah Kit was there to support his daughter, Ngaree Ah Kit, who is standing for the ALP in Karama against sitting member and former senior minister in the Martin and Henderson governments, Delia Lawrie, who moved from the ALP to the cross-bench to stand as an Independent at the next election after losing party pre-selection. Alderman Mick Palmer, and former CLP Minister was there to assist the cause of former NT Thunder and St Mary’s star Jarred Ilett, who is standing for the CLP.,
