Description

A review of the current NT Northern Region Hydrographic network has been undertaken by the Department of Natural Resources Environment and the Arts (NRETA) Hydrographic Unit, to assess the data requirements for each of the existing 123 gauging and rainfall stations. The review attempts to identify what is a sustainable number of stations to maintain in the network assuming that the current level of resourcing is maintained. It also identifies sites which are effectively being run for third parties (other agencies, companies etc); where there is the opportunity to run the sites in a less traditional manner, i.e. cost recovery for services provided, running sites under contract or passing the data collection function over to a third party.,
