Description

George Watts lives on a hundred acre bush block out the back of Batchelor, a carpenter by trade George has built up a good reputation as an artisan builder around the Coomalie district, having had a hand in building some of the more un-usual houses around the district. The two houses pictured on George's block where constructed by George over a seven-year period, the main dwelling evolved around the fire place and expanded into true open living conditions, it's minimal living at its best, just a large tin roof with huge verandas and tin walls where needed. The other building, which to my mind resembles more of a traditional house, is actually George's partners studio called The Chook House. It has been constructed entirely from recycled materials. The Chook House takes advantage of its beautiful location on the side of a small hill which provides excellent air flow during the hotter months of the year, along with this George has incorporated large banks of windows for excellent light quality which adds to a creative environment to work in.,
