The Darwin Festival is a vibrant arts and culture event with an eclectic and substantial program that takes advantage of Darwin's delightful dry season weather and spectacular outdoor venues. It reflects Darwin's position at the Top End of Australia, its unique Indigenous and multicultural population and its close proximity to Asia, while at the same time showcasing some of Australia's finest arts performers. The draw card for the Darwin Festival is the Lighthouse, it's a tropical big top stage with it's iconic corrugated iron walls that have a 75 meter long public artwork designed by artists from the Tangentyere Arts Centre in Alice Springs. On stage this year was an eclectic program of performances such as Cantina, who left crowds breathless with their dark and dangerous world of faded glamour and flaming passion, to Darwin's hottest street dance crews going head to head as they popped, locked, breaked, and freestyled their way to B Boy supremacy resulting in a night of pumping beatboxing and breaking.,
