Oil or bitumen fire at the Darwin Civil Aerodrome possibly in the late 1930s. The view appears to be from the western side of Qantas hangar and terminal site lokking out to the runway. The personnel appear to be in a uniform and might well be from No12 Suqadron RAAF who occupied the field from September 1939 until the RAAF Station was completed in June 1940 - a detachment then remained until March 1942.,
