Believed to be the PGEO-1 flown by 2nd Lt. Robert J. Buel of the 3rd Pursuit Squadron (Provisional) USAAC on arrival over the 'Houston' convoy in the Timor Sea 15 February 1942. The Houston had radioed Darwin with information that the convoy was being shadowed by a Kawunishi HGK 'Mavis' flying boat of the Japanese Naval Flotilla and Buel had been ordered to intercept. Both the Japanese and Buel were downed (by gunfire from each other). Buel was never recovered and in effect remains 'missing in action'. The photo is accordingly a unique item it the confirmation can be gained through US or Australian sources to substantiate the Guimond recollections. Approx position 12.30'S, 128.45'E.,
